On Human Nature – Good Societies workshop, 27 January

Join Michi Almer and Good Societies for a workshop on human nature!

When we think, dream, and discuss about ‘good societies,’ we rely on notions about human nature that we need to reflect upon. Neoliberalism advocates an idea of humans as selfish, greedy, and aggressive by nature. This ideology promotes an untamed, ‘wild’ capitalism apt to mirror this natural state of being human. And it keeps telling us that ‘there is no alternative’.
In this workshop we will examine our own ideas about human nature and look at arguments put forward by critical thinkers like Sigmund Freud, Klaus Holzkamp, Luce Irigaray, Harry Kunneman and George Monbiot. We will combine playful techniques developed in Argentina by ‘Pañuelos en Rebeldía’ – a team committed to Popular Education – with short introductions and discussions of philosophical and scientific ideas.
